Second Honeymoon

Malachite Kingfisher - a second honeymoon?

Second Honeymoon

The second honeymoon is now quite a trend. And why not? Life is quite hectic nowadays don’t you think? There is the rat race with increasing levels of competition.

There is rising insecurity as far as jobs are concerned. Obsolescence and competitive pressure. On the kids’ front too, there is enough pressure and competition. This is of course also transmitted to the adults. All of this results in health issues – both physical and mental. “Lifestyle diseases” and emotional health issues are rampant. And with all of this, the health of relationships also suffers. Couples slowly drift apart from each other. Torn by the mad pace of life, this happens without the couple realizing it.

In the running after housing loans, the car EMIs, the insurance plans, the children, their education and many other stresses of life, couples often fail to focus on their relationship. Dangerous, since this relationship has to be stable for the rest to proceed smoothly.

Slowing Down, the solution

The best way to combat this is to slow down. Take a deep breath and stay put. Drop out of the race for a while. What the Buddhists call Samatha. Stopping. Then self-realization comes in. For the individual and the couple. The Buddhists call this Vipassana. This is the key to joy.

The Second Honeymoon

I think the best option for couples in stressed out careers and lives, is to stop. And consciously reduce the pace. However, this may not always be feasible. The next best option is to stop for a while and take a break. Without any of the regular pressures – no work, no EMIs, no kids… Just the couple. In an unknown destination. A second honeymoon. Ideally take it once a year… Or maybe once in two year. But start now – take the second one now. I assure you, it will be more magical than your first honeymoon…

Some suggestions of places for a Second Honeymoon

Choose from the below. Ideally make it a place that interests both. And one that neither has visited. And, hey, avoid the ones that are the regular beaches of Goa or crowded hill stations like Ooty or Manali. In case you need help in matching interests or tweaking the itinerary or maybe in finding entirely new places, Write to us and we will be happy to help.
