So we got intrigued… We decided to pack our bags and get there… And we realised that all of these are true… And of course, so much more…

While everyone talks about the wildlife there, it is in fact a land of diverse experiences. The volcanic landscapes, wide open savannah plains, mountain peaks, winding rivers, deep Blue Ocean, dense forests, white sand beaches, vast deserts and more . And how can we not talk about the experience of living in the Jungle!

And the lovely people who work closely with the government to maintain sustainability and eco-friendly tourism.

No need to plan for a particular month. Weather is just great and the temperature is pretty constant all year-round. However, if great Migration is the agenda, then July , August, September is the right time.

Best places to visit in Kenya & Tanzania

Masai Mara National Reserve: An an area of preserved savannah wilderness, along the Tanzanian border, Masai Mara boasts of lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, and hippos. This is also the place to witness the Wildebeest migration. The area nearby is dotted with villages (enkangs) of Maasai people.

Mount Kilimanjaro with its three volcanic cones – Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira – is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. The mountain is part of the Kilimanjaro National Park and is a major climbing destination.

Zanzibar is an archipelago of Indian Ocean islands, awash with idyllic beach experiences and more. It is a great place to relax after an action-packed safari or climbing Kilimanjaro. With its spice plantations and Sultans’ palaces, the island is a must-see when in Tanzania.

Things to note

The best wildlife viewing months in Kenya are during the Dry season from late June to October. The wildebeest migration usually reaches the Masai Mara in July and remains until October when they move back to the Serengeti in Tanzania. Wildlife viewing is good year-round, but this can differ for some parks.

This was probably one of the best tours we had done together as a family. Africa’s wilderness makes you realize why animals should be free rather than in a zoo. The energy and vitality shown by the free animals is seldom seen by zoo animals, and hence makes this an unforgettable experience. This is the Lion King and National Geographic documentaries all rolled in one. The only thing missing is David Attenborough explaining about the animal albeit the tour guide arranged by you did quite a good job with his Attenborough style explanations on the numerous animals that we saw.

Africa’s wilderness should be a must visit place in everyone’s tourism bucket list, and Beyonder is doing a damn good job in making it happen.
