DryLand Skiing – No Ice No Problem – The perfect solution to off season Skiing

Skiing is a sport that not many in Asia do! It is limited to countries that have a lot of snow…

But did you know that there is a way to ski without snow! Even in places like Norway, there is a limited amount of skiing time and there is even less when one takes more time to practice and brush up one’s skiing skills. Someone came up with the perfect solution to ensure that they get practice time, like any other sport – DryLand Skiing

DryLand Skiing or Rollerskiing

This is a technique of rollerblading with ski sticks across dry land (land without ice) that the professionals or cross-country skiers use to build their stamina, strength, and technique before they actually go skiing! It is not only the pros –  the locals also enjoy this sport! The people of the Nordic region can be seen enjoying DryLand Skiing at the drop of a hat!

DryLand Skiing is done with the help of Rollerskis (pretty obvious, huh?). These are standard boots that are mounted on slightly longer platforms than the regular rollerblades and the blades are made of metal alloy reinforced with stronger plastic so that the tip doesn’t break off. The same ski sticks are used in much the same fashion as regular skiing! The skier uses the simple process of jumping from left to right continuously to simulate the movement one makes during short or medium radius turns while skiing…

It sounds quite simple, doesn’t it? Maybe, but it can be a little tricky to get used to, as it’s not very easy to jump from left to right on rollerblades…  It takes a great amount of focus, as it includes the symmetry, flex patterns and core activity that must be improved while DryLand Skiing to make skiing easier…  It takes some getting used to, but it helps during the ski season… When everyone around is trying to get their footing, you can ski past as you hit the snow without the issue of not doing it for a while…

So, if you love skiing and can’t wait till the winters to enjoy your favorite sport, get at it with DryLand Skiing and enjoy every terrain with your ski sticks along with enjoying DryLand Skiing, get yourself ready for the coming ski season!
