Kolukkumalai – the highest tea estate in the world:
Less than 40 kms from the hill-station of Munnar in South India is Kolukkumalai – the highest tea estate in the world. One of the natural wonders of India… Some of the best teas in the world are grown here. Surrounded by nature and ample amounts of oxygen, Kolukkumalai provides great views of the mountains and plains.
Tawang – 2nd Largest Monastery in the world:
The city of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh is of great religious importance to the Tibetans. The present (14th) Dalai Lama fled to India through Tawang in April 1959. The second largest Buddhist monastery in the world is situated here. Having visited this place many years back, this was my Tawang trip itinerary and experiences.
Majuli – the worlds largest river island:
A few years back, Guinness Book of Records recognized Majuli as the world’s largest river island. One of the less-known natural wonders of India like no other… Majuli is the only island district in India, the Brahmaputra River with its gushing currents erodes this island and threatens the livelihood of the local staying in this island. The people of Majuli do not lose courage – the simply move and rebuild…
Mechuka – a forested valley with a hilltop monastery:
Mechuka is a forested valley in the middle of the lofty snow-clad mountains with a river flowing through. With fairly less habitation, this is certainly a place of bliss amidst the mountains, great weather and river flowing by. This is certainly a great place to trek with a hilltop monastery.
