Itinerary in brief
Day 1: Yerevan– Arrival
Arrive in the capital city of Armenia – Yerevan. Have the day at leisure and in the evening take a leisurely stroll through the Republic Square and the North Avenue.
Day 2: Yerevan City Sightseeing
Embark on a tour of the lively Yerevan today – visit the History Museum, Republic Square, Mother Armenia, Blue Mosque, Matenadaran – the manuscript museum and the poignant Genocide museum – which will give you a close understanding of the persecution, the Armenian people had to endure in recent history.
Day 3: Echmiadzin, Zvarnots, Garni & Geghard
Start the day by a visit to Echmiadzin – the holy seat of the Supreme Patriarch-Catholicos of all Armenians. The Cathedral was built in 303 AD after the adoption of Christianity as a state religion in 301 AD. Later visit the ruins of the uniquely designed Temple of Zvarnots (700 AD). Back in Yerevan, learn more about the history of Armenia in the Armenia History Museum and Matenadaran (museum of manuscripts)
Day 4: Khor Virap and Noravank monasteries
Then visit the Areni wine factory for a local wine tasting session. Later, visit the 12th century monastery complex of Noravank set in a picturesque canyon.
Day 5: Lake Sevan, Crossing the Lesser Caucasus
Drive to Lake Sevan, the largest Alpine Lake in the world, via the picturesque Avon Canyon. After visiting the historic Haghpat monastery complex – a UNESCO World Heritage site, near Alaverdi, proceed towards the Georgian border and then drive towards Tbilisi.
Day 6: Enjoy the charming sights of Tbilisi
In Tbilisi, visit the Narikala Fortress, the statue of Mother Georgia, Liberty square, Rustaveli and Kote Afkhazhi street, Tbilisi Mosque, and Abanotubani. Walk along the narrow streets of Old Tbilisi – full of souvenir shops, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, and historic churches.
Day 7: Wine Region – Kakheti, Signaghi
Embark on a Wine region tour of Kakheti. Explore the beautiful fortified town of Sighnaghi, enjoy breathtaking views of Alazani valley and the Caucasus Mountains while visiting the Bodbe monastery.
Day 8: Departure
Bid Adieu to the Caucasus and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
