Myanmar (Burma)

Why visit Myanmar (Burma)?

Myanmar_map_outline

Myanmar! Magical! That’s the only word to describe the experience… This ancient land that cradled an advanced civilization more than 2500 years ago had been more or less forgotten till recently… It is only now that the country has opened up to welcome tourists… It is only now that travelers have started trickling into Myanmar to get astounded by natural beauty, man-made magnificence and a culture that has been somewhat protected from outside influence… This culture is one that seems to be set in a time-warp, whether it be the Buddhist meditation practices, the religious rituals, the beliefs or even the way of dressing. Why, even the attitude of the people seems to be from a different era – the innocence, the unbridled joy and acceptance of life without hankering for improvement.

We went around this country and saw a gold plated rock balanced precariously on a mountain apparently by a lock of hair… and a reclining Buddha statue that is almost unending in length… and the largest stone book in the world… and the largest ringing bell in the world (at 90 tons)… and numerous ancient (some more than 1000 years old) temples in a vast plain… and a monastery on top of a volcanic mountain peopled with lots of monkeys that you reach after a steep climb of close to 800 steps… and a huge lake which people navigate in rafts using their legs as oars… and so many, many, more…

What can we call a country with all of these out-of-the-world sights crammed in? What else but – magical… The legends around these places are no less magical – immortal deities, monks who could control the sea and waves, men who by dint of penance attained immortality, guardian angels, fierce warrior-protectors, white elephants being the harbinger of luck, Buddha-prayers for specific days, releasing of birds and animals at temples, etc.

The history is no less magical – the ancient history of powerful kings, royal intrigue, the British colonial influence, trade, war and the pathos of royal banishment; and the recent history of a hard-won freedom, intrigue, deviousness, mass-assassination, decades of authoritarianism and then freedom again…

Come immerse yourself in Myanmar and experience this magic for yourself… Come Beyonder…

We have crafted a few experiences for you – here we are showcasing a couple… Take a look…

What our Travellers Say

Mandar SalunkheBeyonder Traveller - Cambodia

The trip overall was a quite nice and enriching experience. Cambodia as a country with its different culture as well as the epic nature of the monuments that we witnessed left us awestruck. The guide was quite helpful and was knowledgeable too. The hotel facility was decent and was in a nice locality that had good access to Pub Street, Airport, as well as restaurants for lunch/dinner…

We would surely visit other places too through Beyonder as you did hand hold us throughout the entire process of the trip unlike other travel agents that forget the client once the money is paid.
