This is a capsule with a difference.. We will explore Mexico City and the pyramids of course… as also the Yucatan area with the famous Chichén Itzá. But we will cover it all in the flavor of chocolate. There are many legends about the world’s favorite sweet… But I will leave that out for you to hear in this experience. This impressed us almost as much as the ancient monuments, pyramids and temples in Mexico and hence we decided that it would be interesting to view all the history through the lens of a chocolate aficionado.
Day 1 - Mexico City: Mexican Delicacies
Arrive in Mexico City, second largest city in the world. Try the local food, explore the city, have some pizza or savour the local drinks in of the happening bars of the city.
Day 2 - Coyoacan and Xochimilco: Home of Frida Kahlo and Flower Paradise
Head out to Coyoacan, the place where Cortés prepared his war strategy for the conquest of the Aztecs. Explore the colonial museums of Frida Kahlo, paintings and the architecture. Visit Xochimilco, “Flowery Paradise”, a standout amongst the most beautiful and brilliant part of Mexico City. Enjoy canals, floating gardens and brightly decorated “Trajineras”, cathedrals, palaces and Aztec ruins of Temple Mayor.
Day 3 - Pyramids: Hot Air Balloon Ride to City of Gods
Experience the Teotihuacan Pyramids from the sky in a unique hot-air balloon adventure & catch the breathtaking aerial views of the City of Gods and its astonishing pyramids. Cycle to San Martin Las Piramides and visit the archaeological site of Teotihuacan. Climb the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon and walk down the Avenue of the Dead, cave where a shaman will perform a ceremony.
Day 4 - Merida: Mayan City
Travel early in the morning to the Airport to take your flight to Merida. Spend the rest of the day strolling around this quaint colonial town exploring Mayan culture and monuments. Sample the local cuisine and end up with some best traditional souvenirs.
Day 5 - Yucatan City: Ruins of the Maya Empire
Explore the historic Yucatan City discover its colonial architecture, churches, and monuments. Head out to a boutique Chocolate store and learn the various methods of extraction and preparation of chocolate. Have a chocolaty treat.
Day 6 - Uxmal: World Heritage Site
Head out to the Uxmal Archaeological Site. It is a standout amongst the best re-established and kept up remnants in the Yucatan. Visit the Chocolate Museum, to learn all about the Cacao, taste a traditional chocolate drink; learn about the pre-Hispanic methods of the ceramic making process and witness a Mayan Ceremony too. Bond with a Mayan family and be a part of their traditional day to day lifestyle.
Day 7 - City of Izamal: Yellow Hill City
Head out to the City of Izamal and visit the magical Franciscan monastery exploring the mysterious Yellow City known as a Mexican Magic Town. Enjoy a traditional lunch at Kinich restaurant, explore more of pyramids and historical and amazing monuments and continue towards Chichén Itzá.
Day 8 - Chichén Itzá: New Seven Wonders of the World
Explore Chichén Itzá; one of the “New Seven Wonders of the World”. Get introduced to the daily life of the Mayans, the history of over 1,500-year-old pyramids Hop over to the “CHOCO-STORY CHICHEN”, a store that pleases the most demanding chocolate lovers with a variety of fine chocolates and cocoa products. Go for a refreshing swim at one of the best Mayan Cenotes in the area, before heading to the town of Valladolid.
Day 9-10 - Caribbean Beach: Drench in golden and blue
Have fun, flirt with the sea, sip tall drinks while reading a book. Pamper yourself at the spa, go swimming, relax by the sea and have a super relaxed Caribbean beach holiday.
Day 11 - Departure: Hasta Luego!
Head out to Cancun airport for your flight back home after a few days of culture, chocolate, history, and hedonism after an exuberant Mexican holiday.
