This is the land of the famous Genghis Khan! His grandson, the equally famous Kublai Khan conquered China to establish the Yuan dynasty. Amidst this grandeur and blood-thirsty expansionist wars, Tibetan Buddhism began to spread here – in the early 1900s, almost one-third of the adult male population were Buddhist monks!
