Why visit Bhutan?
The ‘selfies’ will start from airport itself; the beauty and the serenity of its design compelling you to take out your camera and start clicking. Welcome to the land of Thunder Dragon! A sense of contentment and satisfaction encompasses everything and you can feel it in your bones, the moment you arrive in this tiny Himalayan country.
While the rest of the world is madly rushing about trying to earn money and grasp happiness, the people of Bhutan are already living it. Perhaps it is their deep spirituality followed in the tenets of Buddhism or their closeness to the mountains and nature, but people here know that a balance in life leads to peace and happiness. This is also a country where red rice and red chillies are an integral part of the local cuisine. Whether you are looking for a relaxed vacation amidst the mountains or it is about some soul searching, or having an active holiday with camping, biking, hiking or soaking in the culture of this Happy country, Bhutan will definitely make you happy. Even the clichéd sounding ‘city tour’ becomes a journey into history, religion, stories of wars, culture of cities, all rolled into one, turning every moment into a ‘beyonder’ moment.
Did we tell you that this country has no traffic lights ?

Best places to visit in Bhutan
While Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro are the most popular places to visit in Bhutan, the likes of Haa Valley, Khamsum Yulley, Phobjikha and Bumthang valley should also be a part of the itinerary.
Thimphu is the capital city of Bhutan and besides its traditional Buddhist sights and attractions, it has new age cafes, bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. A mix of tradition and modernity
Punakha valley serves as the winter capital of Bhutan and is blessed with a good climate. Don’t forget to capture on camera the views of distant Himalayas at Dochula pass (alt. 3,050m) on Thimphu – Punakha road.

While Punakha has a lot of attractions for travelers, it is also a quiet place to just chill and do nothing.
Haa valley, a very thinly populated region is known for its ancient rituals and traditions and also for its hiking trails.
The valley is located very close to the Indo Chinna border at Doklam. To reach Haa valley one has to travel through Chelela Pass, which itself is a great viewpoint and offers great views of Mt. Jhomolhari.
Paro is one of the widest valleys in Bhutan and is by the Paro river. There are over 155 temples and monasteries in the area, some dating as far back as the 14th century. The traditional-style houses that dot the valley and surrounding hills are also a visual treat.
The best time to visit Bhutan is between March to May and again in October and November. June to September is the monsoon season and December to February is harsh winter in Bhutan. However, winter is apt for people who want to experience snowfall and extreme winter.
