Day 1:
Colombo -Trincomalee

Arrival at Colombo airport and transfer to Trincomalee, by road or by domestic flight. Trincomalee also known as the three peaked hill is one of the oldest cities in Asia En route visit the Kantale Dam, a large embankment Dam, whose 30 year old stories of breach are still alive.

Day 2:
Trincomalee

Visit the thousand pillared Koneswaram Temple also known as Dakshina Kailasa or Kailasa of South, the Seruwawila Buddhist Temple and the Trincomalee harbour. Overnight stay at Polonnaruwa

Unearth the centuries old legends of Dakshina Kailasa and stories from the World War II

Day 3:
Polonnaruwa

Once a thriving commercial and religious centre of Srilanka some 800 years ago, Polonnaruwa is now one of the best preserved historic cities in the world and also one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. Visit the Royal Palace, Gal Vihara, Rankoth Vihara and other monuments. Overnight stay at Anuradhapura.

Ask for the Disney documentary movie “Monkey Kingdom” from one of the shops.

Day 4:
Anuradhapura

This sacred city was the first capital of Sri Lanka, and it flourished for 1300 years. It used to be the centre of Theravada Buddhism for many centuries. Visit the Sri Maha Bodhi tree (249 BC), which is said to be the right-wing branch from the historical Sri Maha Bodhi at BodhaGaya in India, under which Lord Buddha attained Enlightenment. Also visit the various Stupas, Pokunas, Pagodas and temples to understand the history of the city. Overnight at Dambulla.

Day 5:
Sigiriya

Sigiriya – is home to the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic wonder of the Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance of the fortress. Also visit the Cave Temple in Dambulla before proceeding to Kandy for an overnight stay.

Day 6:
Kandy, the hill capital of Srilanka

Visit the Sacred Tooth Relic temple, Arts and craft museum, Gems museum and enjoy the cultural dance in the evening. Stay overnight at Kandy.

Day 7:
Drive to Colombo

Drive to Colombo, take time out for some last minute shopping and transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
