Why visit Laos?
What should we say to intrigue you about a country? Would it intrigue you if we told you that it is a country very few people have heard of? A country that seems in a time warp. Rolling fields, lush greenery, abundant forests, tall rocky mountains rising out of nowhere, waterfalls cascading brutally downwards, meandering rivers cutting through the landscape. A country almost flattened by two hundred and seventy million bombs and people resilient enough to survive, at times, living in a single cave for years together.
A beautifully pristine landscape dotted with the savagery of war- bomb craters and land mines that have claimed many a life and limb. And yet, through it all, a people who have retained their innocence, their joy of living and their love of laughter. What if we told you about a vast plain dotted with hundreds of man-made stone jars that were made for some inexplicable reason by someone in the hoary past of the Stone Age.

A place where Buddhism retains its oldest tradition. This a country where one can witness a happy confluence of Buddhism, animism and Hinduism. Still not excited enough? Well, for the adventure seekers, there are tall mountains through which run gruelling treks and cascading waterfalls to keep the adrenaline flowing. And for those seeking solitude or intimacy, there are little hamlets perched on mountain faces, facing meandering rivers and rolling clouds that threaten to come in once in a while. Have we intrigued you enough?
