Italy

Why visit Italy?

Italy_map_outline

Italy is a country in Southern Europe, which along with Greece, is believe to be the birthplace of Western culture. It is a small boot-shaped country that has the best of many diverse things – art, monuments, heritage, food, fashion, sports cars, football, coasts… you name it, the Italians have it…

Italy is actually a peninsula surrounded by the sea on three sides – the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian Seas, the Mediterranean and Ionian Seas and the Adriatic Sea. As if that wasn’t beauty enough, the Alps and the Apennines mountain ranges run through the vast majority of it. Talk of diversity in landscape! Two major islands are a part of this country – Sardinia and Sicily.

With the proximity of the Vatican in the country, many assume that it is predominantly Catholic in religious belief – the reality is rather diverse. For centuries, this has been home to all possible Christian denominations and quite a sizeable Jewish community. Religion is never far from you wherever you are in Italy – but then neither is great food, lovely wines, fabulous natural beauty and history…
