Ganges; considered to be a sacred river and worshipped as Goddess Ganga, is the lifeline of India. It is a river that gives life to millions of Indians and it is a river where devotees prefer to take their last breath hoping to wash off all sins they committed. Symbolic to Indian civilization and culture, Ganga is a river which has nurtured civilizations and has also caused their destruction. Starting from the glacier in Himalayas, Ganga runs through India and Bangladesh. The trek along the holy river Bhagirathi takes you right up to the source of the river popularly known as Gaumukh (Cow’s snout) at the base of the Gangotri glacier. This trek is for adventure lovers and involves mountain climbing, rock climbing and glacier traverse.

Itinerary in brief
Day 1 - Rishikesh: Banks of Ganges
Upon reaching Dehradun airport get transferred to Rishikesh and take your time to discover the towns and the temples at your own pace, and as the evening approaches, immerse yourself in the captivating and spiritually uplifting Ganga Aarti ceremony on the banks of the Ganges River. Overnight in Rishikesh.
Day 2 - Uttarkashi: Hill Town
Embark on a scenic journey to Uttarkashi, a charming hill town situated by the sacred Ganges, often referred to as the Kashi of the North. Take your time to leisurely explore the town and its captivating surroundings. Overnight in Uttarkashi.
Day 3 - Gangotri: Trek to Origin
Embark on a picturesque drive to Gangotri, nestled amidst the majestic Greater Himalayan range. Indulge in the soothing hot water springs and explore the revered Gangotri temple. Pay homage at the Temple of Goddess Ganga. Overnight in Gangotri.
Day 4 - Bhojbasa: Picturesque Gangotri Valley
Embark on a captivating trek through the scenic Gangotri valley, passing through Chirvasa en route to Bhojwassa. Follow the roaring Bhagirathi River as your companion along the trail.Witness a breathtaking sunset over the majestic Bhagirathi group of peaks. Overnight in Bhojbasa.
Day 5 - Gomukh: Origin of Ganges
Embark on an adventurous trek to Gomukh, the origin of the Ganges River. Trek upto Tapovan, a mesmerizing snowcapped knoll that stands tall as one of the highest points in the region. Overnight in Tapovan.
Day 6 - Tapovan: Swift Descent
Make a swift descent to Gomukh, covering the seemingly endless trek in a matter of hours. Overnight in Bhojwassa.
Day 7 - Uttarkashi: Trek Back
Embark on a downhill trek back to Gangotri, following a continuous path descending through the breathtaking landscapes. Once you reach Gangotri, proceed to Uttarkashi by driving through road and enjoy scenic beauty. Overnight in Uttarkashi.
Day 8 - Departure: Alvida!
Drive to Rishikesh and set aside some time to explore the tranquil Ashrams in the area. Get Transferred to near by railway station or airport for your return journey home.
