A state which still practices matrilineal system, women are the real rock stars here. The amazing people here also have amazing names… be prepared to meet Ms Heaven, Mr Lazy, Ms Missme or Blessme. Walk on the Living Roots Bridge, drive through the mountains, explore the caves and water falls…this experience is all about getting one with the nature and of course must try the beetle nut.

Arrival, Guwahati –Shillong
Arrive in Guwahati airport, and drive to Shillong. Enroute visit Umiam lake. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Shillong – Cherrapunjee (2 hours)
Get transferred to Cherrapunjee which is one of the highest rainfall areas in the world. It was the headquarters of the Khasi/Jaintia province during British rule which was however shifted to Shillong in 1864, due to the inconvenience caused by excessive rain during the monsoon. Visit the Seven Sisters fall, Nohkalikai fall, Mawsmai Cave, Vivekananda Ashram, Thankharang Park, from where one can see the plains of Bangladesh. Overnight stay at Cherrapunji.
Cherrapunjee – Mawlynnong – Shillong
Drive to Mawlynnong, known as the cleanest village of India. Trek to see the living root bridge found here. Later drive to Dawki (Bangladesh Border), about 35 kms from Mawlynnong. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Shillong – day trip to Nartiang & Smit Village
Visit Smit village, the traditional seat of Khasi culture and then Nartiang – the biggest collection of monoliths or Megalithic stones in one single area, locally known as Moo Kynthai. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Shillong – Guwahati (120 km / 3 hrs)
Visit Shillong Peak and Don Bosco Museum which showcases the heritage of all the North Eastern States. Spend some time at Ward’s lake located in the heart of the town, an artificial lake shaped like a horse shoe. Get back to Guwahati & in the evening enjoy the Brahmaputra River cruise. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
Guwahati – Sualkuchi-Hajo
Drive to Shualkuchi,one of the world’s largest weaving villages. The entire population here is engaged in weaving exquisite silk fabrics. A renowned centre of silk production, particularly known for Muga – the golden silk of Assam which is not produced anywhere else in the world. Later drive to Hajo, also known as the meeting point for Hindu, Islam and Buddhists. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
The name is a combination of two words- Guwa meaning areca nut and Hat meaning market. Start the day with a visit to Kamakhya Temple, one of the Shakti Peeths in India. Visit Umananda temple of Shiva and Parvati, situated in the middle of the Brahmaputra River. Spend some time at Sankardeva Kalashetra, Guwahati Museum, and try the local cuisine. Overnight stay at Guwahati.
Day transferred to the Guwahati Airport for your flight back home.
