Exactly two years back we were vacationing in China. After visiting Beijing, my dad was particularly excited to visit the Shaolin temple. He had told us about the movie ‘The 36th Chamber of Shaolin’ and this being the birthplace of Kung Fu.
As we entered Shaolin, we saw thousands of monks practicing Kung Fu in a large ground, the ages ranging from 7 – 65 years.
We then stood in the line for the Kung Fu show. We admired and took pics of the statues including Bodhi Dharma’s who traveled east from India to Shaolin and taught Kung Fu to the monks.
We finally rang a large bell to entire a packed auditorium. The host of the show called for volunteers. My dad put his hand up and was selected too!
Each volunteer was asked to follow the steps of his master. It was very funny to see my dad keep pace with his master and do the snake moves.
The crowd was cheering all the volunteers and my dad a little more 🙂 When it came to the results, my dad was crowned as the best amidst lot of cheers 🙂
