This is perhaps one of the most breath-taking wildlife experiences on earth! A short safari to get up close with the two species of chimpanzee that occur in Africa and the habitat of the Golden Monkeys where adult monkeys frolic in plain view, feeding on bamboo leaves and leaping from perch to perch, and females carry their young, completely comfortable among onlookers.

Arrival at Kigali
Arrive at Kigali International Airport to be met and transferred to your hotel in Kigali.
Nyungwe National park
Head off to Nyungwe National park via Butare visiting enroute, the famous National Museum at Butare and the ancient King´s Palace at Nyanza. (B, L, D).
Embark on your first Chimpanzee trek to try and spot these amazing animals in the wild. Later in the afternoon take a nature walk to visit the visit Kamiranzovu waterfall – spot at least 200 tree species over 280 bird species and more than 100 different types of colourful butterfly… (B, L, D).
Proceed for the canopy walk along the treetops 50 meters above the ground, to see the forest from above the trees at eye level with birds and monkeys that inhabit the upper storeys of the forest. Then depart for Gisenyi (B, L, D).
Drive down to Musanze for a day of Golden Monkey tracking in the Volcanoes National Park deep in the jungle… Get to watch the way they live in groups and families taking care of their young and going about their daily chores un-self-consciously… Later in the afternoon, head to a local village for an interesting trip to the local brew makers to understand the chemistry about the process of brewing a local beer from bananas. You can even join the women in squeezing the juice out of the bananas and drink a glass of juice if you feel like it… Or you can wait for it to become fruit beer before you try it… (B, L, D).
Head out early for the highlight of the safari – tracking mountain gorillas in the forest on the slopes of the Virunga… It’s a magical experience like no other – this coming face-to-face with these extremely rare creatures…
Drive back to Kigali for a city tour to visit interesting places like the craft market, Gisozi genocide memorial site & Kigali museum. And of course, finish your last minute shopping before returning to the airport for your flight back home with memories of close encounters with our closest cousin species…
